I was in an antique shop today and I came across this interesting piece of crystal. I bought this as it is absolutely gorgeous. I collect crystal. I bought it home and I thought it was for a dresser for ladies rings, however when I showed my mother she said she thinks it for miniature perfume bottles? She said her grandma (now passed) used to have one just like it in a cabinet and she remembered it from when she was a child. Does anybody know anything about this piece of crystal? I would love to know any information about it. I have tried researching it, but no luck. I would love to know what it's actual purpose is, how old it is, or who could have made it? I live in Australia.
I am pretty sure your Mum was right. These were from Czechoslovakia and came with three small bottles with ground stoppers. I have only seen one at an antique shop years ago and I think (but am not sure) that the bottles were also cut crystal.
They probably date around the 50s.
Wow, thank you so much for your response! That has helped me a lot, so it must be for perfume bottles. This must be missing the perfume bottles then, thank you so much.
Omg! After much researching I have finally the exact same one with all three crystal perfume bottles. You were right racer4four and the bottles are cut crystal.
Glad you found confirmation. It's gorgeous even without the bottles.
Greetings,
I also have a crystal glass shoe, but with a higher heel. It has a stamp with Tyrone lead crystal so I hope it is from Ireland.
My theory on the glass shoe was from Cinderella, as in the prince was left with just the glass slipper to find Cinders.
Anyway, if you have come across any information to help with this item that would be helpful. Is it from Ireland and rough idea off how old etc?
cheers
