Got this the other day brand new from a shop. It was reduced as they had lost the sheath, only £6.
It is well made, the thing looks like it was made from a solid block of steel, but when you look closely the rivets can be seen at either end and the line of the blade is barely visible when looking at the spine.
The bone scales are finely polished, at first I thought they were plastic!
No makers marks or any marks at all, I don't even know what style this one is called.
Thanks for the loves people!
I think, without having it in hand, is that, this is a knife made in Pakistan. I bought one on E-bay a couple weeks ago for $11.00, free shipping from California. Nice weight, could be sharper, but overall, nice for the price. I think the scales on mine might come off at some point. A bit of fun.
Is that a "electric fire "in your photo ? Is that what replaced those little coal things ?
It's a gas fire, we were staying in a large mobile home for our holiday (vacation) by the sea. It was very large, 12ft X 38ft. almost as big as a house!
This knife is not a cheap falling to bits one, it is quality. If you read my remarks on the knife above, you will see what I mean. It is super sharp, and beautifully made. I have owned German Solingen and Spanish Toledo knives (still have a Spanish divers knife from the 1970's somewhere!), and the quality is definitely on a par with these.
Sorry for leading you to think, I meant your knife was cheap and falling to bits. I certainly did not mean that. I think a lot of the knives that come out of Pakistan, nowadays, are good quality, just not fantastic.
No worries Rockbat, I understand. I was just making it clear that I believe the knife is of a superior quality.
Please post some of your collection, I bet everyone would love to see them!
Best wishes, Bob.
Nice looking knife, Bob. I've owned and still have tons of Pakistani knives. For the price, you can't beat them! Your knife may have had PAKISTAN simply imprinted on the blade in black ink, which is easily erasable or removable with rubbing alcohol or some other liquid cleaner ~ I have several blank blades that once had PAKISTAN imprinted on them. [;>)
Hi KJ, thanks for the remarks.
I have seen many of yours from Pakistan, and it is possible it is from there.
I love this one, and just made a sheath for it until I can find a suitable replacement.
We are not allowed to carry a lock or fixed blade knife in public, and only a small folding knife is legal, as long as you have a good reason for carrying one.:-(
I often take a small pocket knife out with me, it comes in handy when doing a multitude of things from using a screwdriver blade to opening a watch case.
Boy, you sure have tight knife laws in England! Do your laws work like ours here in the U.S., where each state has its own laws??? Here in America, knife laws, from state to state, vary widely. In one state, for example, there are no restrictions at all, and in another state, much like you described for England, you can carry only a very small pocket knife. [;>)
Across the whole of England, not sure about the rest of the UK though!
No multi-shot shotguns, only double or single barreled allowed, and tight restrictions on those too. No multi-shot handguns at all either.
Air guns, pistols max output 6 ft.lbs, rifles 12 ft.lbs. Any higher you require a firearms certificate, and they are not easy to get.
Totally bummed about those laws, as a kid it was much easier.
in n.c., you can carry concealed any blade under 4 in. long. and carry even a sword unconcealed so long as you do not present it as a threat.
So can you carry, say, a big Bowie in a sheath on a belt, as long as it's not concealed? Similar to gun laws in US in certain states, yes?
