I found this cool piece of salvage hardware and can't figure out what it might have been a part of. I believe it is cast iron (it is magnetic). It is heavy and small. It does not stand up on its own and clearly had to have been attached to something???? The hole is smooth and not threaded in any way. The hole opening is about 3/4" in diameter and that part of it is 7/8' deep. It has small arms with cupped human hands protruding from it that are nicely detailed (the sleeves even show a button or cufflink). The distance between the hands is 2 1/2" across and the whole thing is about 3" in size. Any help identifying what this is or was a part of would be greatly appreciated.

Well...hmmmm...if this was to be placed over the neck of a bottle, then the hands would be upright. You could rest something across both hands...but what? LOL a big help, huh.

I'm going with Efesgirl. Thinking wine bottle and a stem glass hanging on the hands.

Mystery solved. It's a pole mount hook for a standing hat rack, coat rack or hall tree. Several would have been affixed with other hardware along the rack's standing pole in a cast iron base. Thanks for all the interesting ideas:).

The piece is definitely antique Victorian cast iron.
