I made a display in our family room using an antique wood holder for the metal post office boxes. Someone bought the boxes but didn't want the holder so I snapped it up.
In the first box is a Civil War era carte de visite of a mother and son. The photographer was Charles J. Freiot of Oneonta, New York. I also have my Civil War era button charm string atop a piece of vintage silk from a kimono.
Second box features a Victorian trade card for Hayward and Co. (with a typographical error!) and a fob seal.
Third box has a traveling inkwell of more than likely Albanian provenance.
The last box has a faience inkwell from Rouen given to me by a friend from France who loves visiting rummage sales.
Atop the piece is my Civil War era photo album and a button bag with "Button, Button Who's Got the Button" and a lovely design embroidered in a beautiful yellow thread. The local consignment shop owner knows I love buttons and gifted me with this button bag this past weekend when I was visiting his shop. He's a regular at auctions and estate sales and keeps an eye out for me for interesting pieces he knows I might like.
