I would love to pick someone's brain on this necklace, I inhairited this from my father in law. He said it belonged to his aunt and remember her having it back in the 50's. It was in bad shape and I have cleaned on it a little bit, the back shines like silver. There are no markings, but it sparkles and shines beautifully...
This is beautiful, possibly 1930s/1950s necklace. It's rhodium plate over base metal.
Wow thank you for the quick response! :) that is good to know :)
I plan on giving it a gentle soft brisle cleaning. I have a couple bags of old beaded necklaces, earrings and misc pieces. I look forward to picking at a lot more knowledgable brains in the near future :)
Thanks! I think I have found my new fav .com hangout :)
Was just going to look up the clasp to get a better idea on age.
It is a very beautiful necklace - are all the stones clear?
IMHO I would steer clear of a soft bristle brush cleaning. You can look up on line about the best way to clean rhinestones, but it looks super as it is. Congratulations, and yes welcome to CW.
Its beautiful!
Warm welcome!
