This tool is in my Dad's shop and we have no clue what it is or what it may have been used for. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The overall length is 21.5"
The bar length is 17"
The wood handle is 2 5/8" long
The bar has 6 adjustment notches built into it
The wheel diameter is 4"
The metal handle length is 8 1/4"
Jaw height is 6"
The mechanical end with the wheel is 5 3/4" in height
Height to the top of the wheel is 7 1/4"
The jaw end would remain in position during use, while the wheel end can be turned to make that long rod end piece turn towards the jaw in a vise-like fashion.
Feel free to ask any questions. I'll do what I can to answer them or get more I for from the tool if possible.

Thank you, Uncle Ron. That was it. We appreciate your help in identifying this piece. We wrongly assumed it was a stand alone tool, but is in fact one piece of a larger early machine. Thanks again!
Looks to me to be an old wood lathe.
