A nearly perfect Luftwaffe visor cap of an enlisted/NCO member of a flight crew or paratroop regiment as indicated by the golden yellow piping. The cap body is constructed of Luftwaffe blue wool, with a black ribbed mohair cap band. The leather chinstrap is characteristic of enlisted grade visor caps. The Luftwaffe winged cockade in aluminum is centered on the cap band with the 2nd style Luftwaffe eagle also wrought of aluminum, mounted on the cap body above it. Inside prominently displayed is the maker mark of the prestigious firm of Robert Lubstein, also the manufacturer of Erel visor caps. Lubstein used his own name and personal logo on certain caps, and this is the second iteration of that trademark as may be determined by the street address. The cap is dated 1939. The interior appears to be a orange-brown oil cloth, the sweatband is made of what appears to be kidskin, with some separation evident. The underside of the black peak is green with a cross-hatch pattern.
NICE ! Wonder how this avoided service ?
