      I'm thinking fossil. 90 degree angles instead of breaks would be rare in strata. Damn, that sounded like I know what I'm talking about ! LOL !!

      I ran into a guy selling at a craft show in Nevada city is an expert at nipping The process of putting in the edge on stone ! Arrowheads acted scrapers knifes in such ! I purchased and antler handled stone bladed knife from him he had made from Australian Jasper the exact same coloring of yellows and purples As a stone in your picture! I I hope that helps you were gives you direction to look into. You got a great eye for finding some really pretty and interesting things very cool stuff

      I agree with Eyeforit, a Type of Chert, chert comes in many colors, depending on surrounding sediments. Chert name given to stones that are Lighter, but can come in many colors, flint name given to darker chert and then your reds, reddish browns are called Jasper.
