They thought it was plastic.
This necklace was hanging with the other costume jewelry in the Vintage section of the thrift shop, with a 15 buck price tag. I blinked a few times, picked it up, took a quick look at it...mine!
I did notice that one of the smaller beads has a manufacturing fault - a small "wrinkle". No matter to me. I think this necklace is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks for looking/loving!
~Bonnie~

you lucky girl, you did it again!
congrats! awesome
I'm usually not much of a jewelry person, but this is really great!!
OMG!!! those are the biggest beads I've ever seen.FANTABULOUS!
@Gillian - you should have seen it hanging on the necklace rack in the shop - if it had arms, it would have grabbed me as I walked by...
Amazing depth of color Bonnie....Those really are as luscious as a bowl of cherries. I bet their value is equally so. :)
mike - I will definitely see a return on my 15 bucks.....this is the biggest Bakelite necklace I've ever seen in real life, lol!!
Amazing colour.....just beautiful!!! Well done Bonnie!
THANKS, all!
@val - measures about 22 inches. It could very well be later. I looked on the web to see how these were listed, so I labeled it art deco. I've never owned Bakelite anything so don't know how to judge age.
W....O....W!!!
LOVE it again!!!
Lovely find!
Big bold and beautiful!
Newtimes - nobody was more surprised than I to find this necklace in a thrift shop....and I can hardly wait to see what is in there this week, lol!!
So nice Bonnie! It looks good enough to eat!
Beautiful!!
Hi Bonnie! I recently found a necklace that is almost identical to yours:
https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/257190-chunky-cherry-amber-bakelite-necklac?in=user
When I bought it, I was pretty sure it was cherry amber bakelite. But I tested it with simichrome and the thing is it doesn't react as usual bakelite. I only get a very light pinkish stain on my cloth (even after rubbing it heavily!). So I thought I might have something else than bakelite here... Did you test your necklace? And what was the result? Thanks in advance for your help! ;)
