Can anyone help me identify this type of table? I bought them at garage sale and would love to know more of their history or even what they are called/purpose. The oval top is 24" in length and almost 14" in width with elevated ridges on each end. The top is veneer because it has started to "lift" at one seam. The tables are 24" tall and both have a smaller middle shelf with what looks like handles or book ends to hold books in place. They also have legs in the style of Duncan Phyfe (what I think). No identifying marks that I could find. I think they were re-stained (or the original finish wasn't so great). I've since refinished them myself and I use them to store books. I haven't seen anything like these online and was hoping that someone could provide some background. Thanks so much!
