I am unsure of the country of origin of this bowl and would appreciate any help you might be able to offer.
The base of the bowl is clear glossy glass but the sides and the lid have a creamy iridescent sheen. There is what may be the remains of writing above the clasp in image three.
The seller thought it reminiscent of Legras, I'd like it to be Czech! Wishful thinking all round...........
Diameter 11 cm./4.25 inches
what a great new acquisitions of beautiful glass :)
O-M-G!
Smacked in the face again!!!
I think you're right thinking it's Czech.I can see this motif on glass quite often.Maybe also Austrian or German...
Makes me think about winter...
Thank you so much, SEAN.
A lot of violence going on around here, Karen, but thanks even so :)
Your comment is very welcome, Ivonne. Perhaps I'm close at least. I refuse to think about winter for now.....
Yep Racer - gobsmacked at this piece.
never saw something similar german? netherland?
Thank you Gillian and kivatinitz, I've seen many bowls with this type of structure and enamelled decoration in what I would call a Czech style. However this is the first I've seen with scenery. On the other hand Czech lampshades with scenery are not uncommon.
Hi Peggy,. This is Lovely! I have nothing like it...something to look out for :)
Hi Fran, thanks for the compliment. Good hunting! Trouble with these is that often you only see them by chance because people don't seem to know what to call them.....me included.
Thank you for the loves everyone.
Geepers....that's something else!
:-O
Yeah, Efesgirl, thank you :)
