We had heavy rain/thunderstorms yesterday and this is what I woke up to find.... some of my elephant ears on the ground!! :( :(
You know I had to rescue this baby....so down to the vase shelf I went.....
this vase is 12" tall and very heavy so worked out perfectly! Not a vase that I have researched yet so I'm unable to give details as to Maker etc. Purchased because of the size and weight.
Hoping this baby makes it!
Colocasia Antiquorum 'Illustris' Elephant Ear
The long runners form nodes along their length, and new growth buds exist at each of these nodes.
you have a beautiful home and collection and love your posting!!
Mel to the rescue!
Love your garden! You can never have enough vases for flowers!!!
wow, those are some pretty big plants! ~ first time for me to see them ~ and a nice large vase to hold them! [;>)
Sean thank you ;)
TD I agree with you....never enough.
Neverblades every thing I plant here grows extra large....the soil here is Amazing!
I have been gardening all my life and this is the only place I've lived where you didn't have to enrich the soil yourself. I will have to share more pictures of my flowers for everyone to see how big plants grow here.
They look very "designer" in your room - impact statement :)
The vase is a gorgeous bit of cut crystal.
Beautiful vase and landscaping!!
Lovely vase and landscape! Always loved those elephant ear plants when I lived down south. I guess their care is under appreciated.
Love the inside pic too. Beautiful. :)
OGF thank you
I have worked so hard in the flower beds this year only to wake up this morning to all my plants destroyed from "Tropical Storm Hermine"
:( :( :(
All of the elephant ears and New Guinea impatiens are destroyed!!
I'm one unhappy gardener this morning!
But guess I just need to drink my coffee and get over because you can't control mother nature.
Oh Melanie, how very upsetting!!!! But as you say....out of your control........think on the bright side, your house is still standing :-) Look forward to seeing your new garden!!!

I'm watching the one Pine Tree we have that is located in the front yard and praying those limbs don't break and land on the roof. But yes as of now the house is still standing and grateful for that.
Stay safe Melanie!!
