just a small antique shop find.
i've been entirely unsuccessful in finding any information about the photographer, so if anyone can chime in you're welcome to do so!
this photo isn't a full size cdv (seems just a bit smaller) and has its obvious cosmetic issues, but my, what hair and a fantastic hint of a smile! despite its issues, this is just one of those photographs i've bought just because i'd liked it (and still do!)
She looks proud.
Carter block would likely have been in the middle of their downtown where everyone went to shop. Every city had some kind of business block.
i think so, too.
huh, interesting! that would certainly be the place to have a photography studio, then. that bit of information doesn't seem to help with my google search, but i'm definitely glad to have it. thanks!
It is hard without a last name and good date-range.
Jackson has always been a popular town, as it's outside Lansing, but it wasn't huge. You may still find something if more information can be given.
I could not locate anything, I'm afraid.
ah, i figured that, especially since it's such a common name. thanks for your effort and advice, SpiritBear!
Possibly this man, who was a photographer in Jackson, MI:

Albert was born in New York State to natives of New York on August 19, 1868, second of the five children of
Albert P. and Lucretia S. Thomas. His father was a portrait painter. Her father emigrated from Northern Ireland and
Lutie was born in Michigan to a mother from Pennsylvania on June 1, 1873, the elder child of William and Mary
Welch. She married Albert in 1889 or early in 1890, and they never had children. Albert came to Jackson from Ann
Arbor in 1894 to purchase the photographic art studio of E. Albert Widman in the Carter Block, which could be
reached via an elevator. He and Lutie were living at Jackson in 1900 with her brother Gordon and his wife. Lutie died
at Kalamazoo on February 24, 1941, and Albert died there on May 6, 1949. Both were buried at Mountain Home
Cemetery in Kalamazoo.

Wow!! Thanks efesgirl! That seems to be a fantastic resource and really does appear to be the same photographer, in my opinion. That timeline helps a ton with dating the photo, too!
