1939 Kodak Retina Type 148 on the left. 1946 Kodak Retina II Type 011 on the right.
These camera's were built in Stuttgart, Germany by Nagel Camerawerks which Kodak purchased in 1931. The Germany government took control during the war. Kodak regained control in 1945 and continued till 1969.
These were built to compete with the other high end camera's of the time. The Type 148 originally sold for $73($1233 today's money). The Type 011 sold for $198($2573 today).
They both run 135 film, or as we know it by 35mm. Precision German engineering make these camera's beautiful and well built. Both still work.
The Type 148 ran a f3.5/50mm lens. The Type 011 uses a f2/50mm lens. Both were capable of film speeds of 1/500.
