Sometimes I really wish I knew exactly how glassmakers do what they do, and that I could do it too......

Love the paperweight effect used on the bottom. Great colors and design. :)
Yes,this is fantastic. The swirled bottom suggests a liquid content.
Beautiful!!!
That is stunning!!!
Oh my Karen! this is beautiful!!!
That swirl is stunning! And the whole design is so elegant, I LOVE your decanter :-)

Thanks Mike. It makes sense to have some weight in a decanter's base and they made good use of the glass. I just didn't think to call it a paperweight base; such a sensible description!!
I like that description too Ivonne - it is a very liquid design. Thanks!
Thanks VL! Appreciate the love and comment.
Hey - you too Scott. Great to have your comment!
Judy thanks too. I can't imagine trying to tip anything out of it - good wrist strength required!
I am not big on decanters Pascale - but you know, boxes were ticked. Glass, Japanese, and yes - the swirl! Thanks for the response.
Merci CK!
Thanks Ken. I value your opinion always.
I agree Karen, a beautiful design obviously made by a master glass blower! Can't figure this one out either.
i love looking at your posts - extraordinary items !
Thanks Bill, I appreciate someone of your great taste liking my stuff. I am yet to try glass blowing but it's on my to-do list just so I can experience it. Post on - I wouldn't laugh at all! We could not do what glass blowers do without the training and experience they have, so you should be proud of any first attempt!
Thanks Rick. Part of owning great glass, as you know, is being in awe of the artist's skill. I only occasionally get to chat to a real glassblower so next time I might pick his brains on this style.
DPD - what a great thing to hear! Thanks so much!!
Sweet Piece of Eye Candy !!
~ Now I know your glass addiction is * SPIRALING* out of control......LOL.
True true Rose!! Thanks :)
I love it, a piece of art! How did they do that?! Very nice.
Thanks Elisabethan.
Sooo glad I didn't miss this one!!! Amazing!
