This is the third and final piece by Jim & Jean Tyler. This one has nice sgraffito decoration and a nicely contrasting, coloured lip. The Tylers were British migrants to Australia in 1959 by way of South Africa and Zimbabwe. Here they took up pottery and made a living out of it north of Sydney in the Gosford area. It bears their signature on that foot - to my eye a Japanese feel all over.
Very nice!!!!!
Impressive. I'm trying to get a sense of the size - it would look good big or small.
They were talented for sure. Until your posts , unknown to me Kevin. I'm not sure if that says something about me, or the general lack of promotion of Australian potters.
interesting texture interplay
My favorite of the three!
