An example of animal paste jewellery at its best!
Open back sparkling paste stones, cut and set as if they were peridots and diamonds in heavily gilded silver.
Size: 3.2cm by 3cm, 1 1/4" by 1.1"
Weight: 8.9g
French hallmark boar's head for silver and Maker's mark identified in 925-100.com as Auguste Besson, active in Paris from 1881.
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I do :-)
Fabulous!
This could not be more beautiful even if those green glass stones were diamonds and peridots!

I love it! The color and movement in it fantastic! They knew what they did back then. New jewelry most often lack that special feeling about them.

He's a beautiful frog - I read up on paste stones after seeing this. Your frog really stands out with the sparkling stones.
Right Judy :-D
Elisabethan, yes, his attitude is very lively, modern pieces look so stiff in comparison...

Wow Kyra, lots of deserving loves for this beautiful post. Saw lots of turtles in Al and they call the land ones gophers and eat them. :( (endangered ). I loved watching the water turtles sun themselves when I lived on a channel inlet. One land turtle made it's way and my 80 year old neighbors' yard and she made me get it out of her yard and take it back in the woods. Then another neighbor pulled up and she offered it up. We were on our way to a festival and I ran that big fella as far into the woods as I could. LOL --So much for that shower and my hair do but the turtle made it out alive!! :)
Can you show a larger pic of the last pic that shows the French makers mark for silver?
OGF, I love your turtle rescue story! You're a sweet heart :-D
In France, wild turtles aren't that big, and are only present in the South and Corsica, they are endangered and protected!
For the boar's head mark, I can't take a clear picture, but Google images for it or see there:
