Dolphin Glass is still mired in obscurity for me. The only thing I have ever found online about them is a 1960s photo of someone blowing glass at their studio; who it was and where it was situated was not stated.
All of the Dolphin Glass I own or have seen for sale looks to be 50s/60 and this piece is no exception.
It's daggy cardboard box is very 50s and it was so filthy when it arrived I didn't even know the ground was white! After a good wash it came up well.
I like the brownish purple spattered swirls. They are nicely even and show some great blowing control. The pretty clear glass twist around the neck is not too OTT either.
Typical of lots of my Dolphin Glass the pontil break had been reheated and impressed with a spiral. I have not found that on any other Japanese glass.
Height 23cm
Quite beautiful!! I love the brownish purple swirls as well.
Many thanks for the love and comments Thomas, Scott and Ken. I'm flattered to have so much attention from such a group of guys!
I remember that circles pontil !!! Dolphin ???
It's the only company I have seen do that Kevin. There may have been others I don't know about.
beautiful!!!
Very nice! Green Lady approves!
Thanks so much Sean sweetie!!
Aww Bill thanks! Much as I would love to have it I will decline. Post cost to Australia is enormous - you could buy a new Holley for the same price. I am very grateful you have offered :)
If Green Lady approves it's gotta be good. Standards must be kept. Thanks VL!
Wow! What can I say to this? I was wondering how they did that bottom/ponitl like that...pretty cool to say the least. Just beautiful!
Thanks Sue...... I even know some other stuff..... not too much.....still learning.
