I found this in my grandmother's attic. It is some sort of sewing not sure what it's called but I'm guessing it's really old.

I would really like to see these photos. The first one is too dark to pick up a close-up of the stitches, the second and third are full of glare and a strange green colour. Please would you try and take some better photos and repost?

I hope the pic I added was a little better than the last. I apologize if it's not.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Unfortunately, it leaves me no better off than before. I can not tell you what kind of 'sewing' it is. Do you know what the material is? Could it be a kind of velvet or velveteen?

It looks to me as though this has had some water damage, or been rolled up, there are what looks like brownish stripes running from top to bottom, that obviously are not part of the picture.

It also has quite a bit of damage along the top, and looks like it needs cleaning.

Is it worth having repairs done to it? It may be old, perhaps early 20th century more likely newer. It may have some sentimental meaning for you, and like I said you have to decide whether you want to get it repaired or not.

I don't think I can be more help than that.
