Hi, I found this a few months ago for a few dollars. It looked to be an older piece by the catch. Can anyone help me ID the type of piece it is or the age? Thanks!

the trombone closure dates it to the late 1800's I think.
Medici's crest, leading to Italian, Florentine brooch :-)
The trombone clasp was in use around 1850, but the rivet hinge was invented around 1900. The rivet hinge on your brooch is handmade, which can date it to very early into the 20th century. Not an exact science, lol!
