Hi I am trying to find out about my lamps. I bought them at an antique sale in upstate NY (Buffalo Area, near the Buffalo Raceway) about 30 yrs ago. I am not sure where they came from, although I wonder if there is a relation to the racetrack since they have images of the harnes horse and driver. The images look carved and feel it. The base is wood, looks like Cherry but not sure. The lip above the square bottom carved piece is the same wood, then on top of that is the horse head. it is very delicately carved. They are beautiful lamps and in great condition. I have wanted to get more info on them for a long time now. I also want to know their value. As I said, I have the pair, and they are in great conditon. I am not sure what the material is that the horse is carved out of. I always thought it was ivory, but I tried to stick the needle in like they say and that doesn't work. It's not wood, it's not ceramic, not sure what the material is. I would love info on this if anyone knows. My email address is caedinsphd@yahoo.com Thanks so much!
I have had one person look at them and she thinks they are hand carved????
Thanks for loving it Dottie!
