    SpiritBear
    (813 items)

It's a highly recognised image, of course, of the Great Wave.

I'm just hoping this is an older tapestry from the '70s or before, not one of the new ones.

It was framed professionally in 2004, as I noted on the sticker, and was not originally meant to go in this frame. It was permanently mounted in the UV-blocking housing.

The material is very soft, but I cannot be sure of what it is.

Good chance it's silk SpiritBear. Looking at the fineness of the embroidery I doubt it would be anything else. Only an acrylic thread would be strong enough if it was other than silk, and they would normally not bother. If you need to know try and tease a thread from the edge and heat it. Silk scorches, acrylic melts and stinks.
