I have this little sterling brooch that I need help with, please.
I wonder if you can identify the mark to the right of the 925 mark? I can´t make out what it is. Looks lite a pictoral mark in the shape of a tourch, flame or pawprint? This could help me to learn more about its origin and age. Sad to say I need help with everything on this one because I have never seen a brooch like this. So age and country of origin would be lovely to find out. There are 3 posts with "clues".
Solved: Thanks Karen for solving this and for Kyratango for letting me know!
Thankyou!
Hi Elisabethan!
Does your mark looks like my mysterious one on this post?

Can you please post pic of the whole back and a more focused of the front?
Oh, sorry, I just saw you posted other pics in previous posts :-)
Thankyou kyratango for this interesting discussion.
I think period_gems (in your post) might be on to something even if I can't find the answer. I googled Murrle Bennett & Co and the founder came from Pforsheim Germany. The 925 together with a makers mark after can be seen. I'm not saying they made this and I haven't seen period_gems piece but if he/she is right it can tell us it's from that time (company operating 1884-c.1914). They might have imported period_gems piece and sold it as theirs. My piece and yours might have been imported directly from Germany?
I just can't find this mark of ours. I'm a little confused by the fact that among the pinterest pieces you showed one had a safetyclasp that felt too modern and I'm also concerned that a lot of pieces with this mark seams to turn up now. Another thing is the stronge mix of georgian and edwardian look of my brooch. But that doesn't mean there is something wrong, we just need to continue our search and update eachother when/if we find out more, don't you agree?
