Found this old tankard in a box of mixed pewter items. Looks old and I've never seen a shape like this - anyone know if this style of tankard has a name for it's shape? Also i know it's next to impossible to find pewter makers by the hallmark (or pseudo mark) but if anyone recognizes this mark I would be very appreciative.

Thank you Efesgirl!! Anything helps - you are obviously a better googler than me - couldn't find anything like it let alone the same thing.

Bump just to say that I recently acquired a small 8" plate with the same marks although mine are bit more worn. I figured it was pewter but was nice to find SOMETHING about it. Always wish the maker and timeperiod could be found but it is difficult with pewter.

My first thought is that this tankard comes from the Netherlands because of the lion in one of the hallmarks. I'm no expert on this stuff but maybe a starting point for you for more research.

There is an excellent Dutch website with Pewter specialists, but you will have to ask questions about this tankard in Dutch. You could try using google translate.
