A very cool 1880s vapo cresolene vaporizer, being a collector of oil lamps and antique glass bottles I had to purchase it!

Very cool ... I have a few . But you have it upside down . The creosote went in a little tray that sat in what you are using for the base .

More like 1920s-1930s, not 1880s. I see a seam on the bottle's mouth. They sold this product till at least the '30s. The burner itself also matches mine, which I dated to the 1930s.

That's how they had it displayed when I purchased it, I'll fix it lol, thanks

Did they make different models throughout the years? Mine has patent dates of 85 and 88 on it, just curious

Patent dates and patents will be seen on items for decades after they're made, in many cases. I've seen a few different stands over the couple years I've had interest in them.
Never trust a seller. They may think they're being honest, but half the time they don't know much on an item regardless of what they're saying.
