My friend from the antique mall who has also been one of my best customers brought this in for me to look at. It was in a box with several other things that he dropped off for me to check out and see if I was interested in buying any of the items. This was so tiny and delicate it caught my eye right away. The four cups are almost paper thin at the rims and very translucent. The teapot is a melon shape with the top shaped like a little stem for the lid. All the pieces sit on a 6" quatrefoil tray. I could not believe he only wanted ten dollars for it. In fact it was the most expensive piece in the box and most everything else was under five dollars. He did mention the items were nothing special but I've seen these sets online priced from two to four hundred dollars on auction sites. Some sets have six cups instead of four. I'm not certain about it's age or true value but it is a very well crafted little set and I love it. -Mike-
BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
Thanks so much Sean :)
What a delight.....and so hard to grasp just how tiny they are. Gorgeous!
What a nice little set, so delicate! Well done, Mike :-)
Thanks Sklo and Kyra.... I've never seen anything quite like it. The cups really amaze me because they are so thin. :)
Wow, such a great set Mike. Amazing the work in creating these. Any idea of age?
Thanks Karen...I don't imagine it's all that old. Maybe thirty-forty years. At least that's what I was told but I'm still not sure. The ones on the auction sites look the same to me and they're being listed as late 19th early 20th century. No marks of any kind either. :)
GREAT looking set, Mike, but I hope your guests have lots of time, cuz that's what they're gonna need to drink any satisfactory amount of tea!!!
Thanks Nevada...either that or a very expensive blend to be savored in such a small amount.....lol :)
This tea set is so lovely.
Thanks so much Peasejean :)
so tiny
Well, if you can afford it!............... Put me on your invitation list!
It would be a pleasure but since we're talking spare no expense how about a "Sim" tea party. So sparing no expense here's a list I found of the 5 most expensive teas in the world. Take your pick :)
