Am a great lover of Donald but my favourite is the little Timex. Bought for only a couple of pounds and pristine condition with original receipt. Does anyone know how many more there were in this series ? I have a Cinderella but would like to collect some more.
Welcome to CW.
I only know that DD's in all shapes and forms are collectable - depending on age, condition, scarcity etc. But that's about if for me and Donald.
The watches are in incredible condition - did you do any online research about them? Can you give me some history about third and fourth photos please?
I would really like to see the original receipt - please can you show that too? Many thanks.
Hi Gillian, I'm afraid I do some research but probably not enough !! The Scrooge McDuck was a 50th Anniversary limited edition but know little more than that. The Drawing was only £4 so bought it because I thought it was amusing and that's all, really sorry for the disappointment. Will try and photograph the back of the yellow receipt above which has details of where and when it was bought. Best Wishes.
I'm assuming these are watches sold in the U.K.? There are lots of excellent reference books on the American timepieces that also cover some of the English
Disneyana memorabilia, Hakes is one, Tomart is another if you want to have a
look for them.
Looking at Kerry10456's site I see he has a really nice Smiths Donald pocketwatch
that reminds me, Smiths bought out Ingersoll in 1968 and produced a number of
Disney timepieces that might be of interest to you. Smiths of Great Britain Ltd.
You might also google the name to see if there is any reference material there that
might be useful.
I looked on Kerry's site but the advert is no longer there, as it happens I copied it and would be glad to forward it to you if I knew how. Strangely, as I looked at the
advert I realized that in fact I had seen that wristwatch on EBay just a few days ago!
Another note, it was Swiss made and not made by Ingersoll. The advert shows the
watch displayed in its box, and a matching pocket watch.
My friend Geo26e has an example of the Donald wristwatch on his posting site along with some information about it if your interested.
And if you go to my posting site to my posting of an English Ingersoll Marketing
page then scroll down to where kerry10456 has posted his advert for the English
Donald with more info about it and a picture of the pocket watch!
Thank you everyone for all the love and to Vonsboy for all the info.
Absolutely my pleasure, hope it will be of service to you. There is another good reference book currently up for auction although I don't know how much European Disney information is in it. Timepieces, by Hy Brown. Are you only interested in
European Disneyana?
thanks for the duck luv lol I like the picture number 2 I don't see many of that variant nice collection xoxoxoxo
Hello.... All these are great, love em. My favorite is photo #2, the 1960-66 "Name Only" by Timex(US Time), I assume yours is Timex because of UK, the US ones were US Time, but all aside, both were Ingersoll, lol.
Photo #1 are Bradley's, the B-Day edition 1984, I wear(Men's variant) from time to time, the black strap Donald is touch older.
Thank you Kerry great info always appreciated x
