I got this old cap pistol about seven years ago for a Christmas present. It even works. The x-wife told me she paid $99.00 for it. Does anybody know anything about it? Please let me know if you do.

That is an oldie! I found one with the hammer on the top and in more or less the same kind of shape:

Bonnie, don't know where they came up with "flintlock", but that is all wrong. Both of these examples are obviously very, very early & it appears that they may even work using percussion caps for small black powder percussion guns. My guess would be pre 1920's. Make an interesting study. Does the hammer come back any ? I would like to see where the cap goes so that we have an idea of what type of cap was used. Nice item that !

There were a lot of cast iron cap guns by unknown makers in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Single Shot Percussion types similar to yours was:
HERO marked on the frame indention by Ives in 1890.
Another unknown maker marked Bang No. 72 mfg. around 1878

Yes the gun works. Were the hammer goes down is the housing for the cap. round.

Sounds like percussion caps for small pistols like the black powder Colts etc. would probably work.
