Japanese Antique School floor chair?

Here is an Antique Japanese school floor chair? I'm Certain it's Japanese the other info is Questionable? It could be from a tea house? Any information would be appreciated? There are no screw holes on the bottom. I've looked at several old school and class room photo's back to 1916? They were not sitting on the floor? Thank in Advance if you have any info.....
