My mother left me her doll which I'm guessing was given to her around 1905 - 1910. I've been trying to ID it for years. The only thing on the head is B4. A red stamp on her behind says made in ... Germany.? Please help ! Thank you.

Hi There is most likely more marking under wig on lower on neck . You can gently pull up on head as it is attached with elastic cord but just pull a little . She is a dolly face German doll and I expect more marking on neck is there or a symbol . Very beautiful and I will await your reply . All you will see is Germany above B4 and she has been attributed to Goebel which means she was not well documented and there is no symbol or mark by Company that made her . Goebel used that mold number B4
Scroll down this page and you will see your mold number B4 .

Thank you Manikin !!! I'm trying to figure out how to post a picture to this reply; maybe not. There is nothing else written on the head or neck which is what surprised me! What do you make of that?

It says Germany someplace as it was a McKinley law by time she was made to be marked country of origin . You can go to edit and remove last photo #4 and replace it with neck mark photo . There are other dolls that were never marked like her just a mold number but always country made in . Very early bisque dolls and china dolls often did not have country or fully marked but yours is not that early it came later when they did open mouth .
