I happened to be driving home via a route by the dunes and spotted some estate sale signs, so I decided to take a look.

Sadly I was half an hour too late for the big wood wall-mount phone and some others, a very early gramaphone with an entire box of cylinder records in a original carrier, circa 1870s pictorial (flower) stoneware, a ink bottle crate, and much more I saw walking out the door, including three paper-label bottles-- one with a horse'shaped label.
And much went to the same guy, whom I'm well acquainted with. LOL.

As I had only $17, I picked this over other items. It was half off, at $15, so I couldn't resist (there was another ringer box and an extension ringer).

Still works. I reattached the loose wires but am not sure what they do (final photo).

I'm hoping to know who made it and its age along with what type of phone it was for?

Wouldn't this have to be attached to a phone ? Why a ringer & generator if no way to talk ?

      Attach to a candlestick?

I was thinking attached to a candlestick phone. I have a wringer box with hand set phone so could be for any sort of phone like that. I am think candlestick due to the 5 bar magneto. But I am wondering about where a battery would be kept or if it needed a battery. Where is ttomtucker?

      He'll be around.

My mom wants to replace the current bell box for our door bell with this. The thing is so heavy, though, I'm afraid of it falling (even anchored or in a stud) and hurting our cat.

Forget the cat unless you plan on it dropping on it 9 times. LOL !!

The box would surely be dead the second time.

Your Western Electric magneto box was produced from 1908 to the 1920's. it was used with the non-dial candlestick telephones.
