I picked up this Marconi model 138 last year and during the winter I went through the chassis and recapped it, checked the tubes, cleaned and repaired anything that needed to be done. This spring I stripped the cabinet. The top of the cabinet was real bad.''' More photos in another post'' I used Mohawk toner on the darker parts, then gave it several coats of lacquer. I had to order new decals from Radio Daze.
The knobs are original
Nobody make a reproduction Grill cloth for Marconi [or Rogers]
so I found the closest grill cloth I could find.
I also added a phono jack so I can play my MP3 through the radio.
These Marconi consoles are made very well and I sure do like the large dial. Enjoy
Very nice job.
Appreciate the hard work and skill level you have in these restorations -- beautifully done!!
Very nice indeed!!
