This picture is of my great-great grandfather from about 1875 that was taken in near Madison, WI. I really like the chair, and wonder if anyone knows anything about this type of chair such as where it was likely made, etc. I have seen examples that are similar on various antique sites, but most appear to be newer. Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a carte de visite-- but cannot be sure without seeing the entire image and mount.
Without additional information/ markings you will be hard pressed to identify based on the very generic chair and drape studio props.
Can you add photos of the entire front/ back of the card?

Hi Scottvez, I apologize for not being more clear on my question, I was really wondering if anyone knew anything about the chair in the photograph. I have since edited. The picture itself has a blank back and is made of paper and card stock - no metal.
The chair is typical of the 2nd half, 19th century.
If you are looking for a similar one-- ebay is probably your best bet. Do a regular search on ebay and in time you will find something close.

The back curve outline is QUEEN ANNE. The turned spindle middle pieces and turned legs are William & Mary (just before Queen Anne style). So either this is a transitional chair from William & Mary to Queen Anne, or someone had it custom ordered as some makers made what the customer wanted so could have been made at the time of Queen Anne (1720-1750) or later. The wood and construction method would determine the age and possibly the region made. My guess where made would be in the region your ancestors lived because there were makers known in Wisconsin during that time. If the chair is period, (Queen Anne era) then possibly New England. Just a guess.
