Here is a old Union Leader Tobacco Tin I picked up at a garage sale over the weekend. The lithograph is in great condition he reminds me of Uncle Sam. Great piece of Americana.

Nice pick Trenchartman!
Wow much nicer then the one I found:)
The earlier “Union Leader” have “Uncle Sam” before the “Eagle” type. The Uncle Sam variation should not to be confused with the actual “Uncle Sam Brand” see link: http://www.mygerardinc.com/images/vtins/stu/u/unclesam.jpg
Some of the Uncle Sam’s were wider than the normal pocket size like this one..
There are “Free Sample” and “Complementary” version of the Eagle type, which are uncommon. There is a rare Eagle version with a hand holding a pipe on the backside.
This rare one is very elusive since the front of it looks just like all the rest of the Eagle type. One of these days I will have the Union Leader page set up on my website at:

OK the Union Leader pocke tin page is up on my website at: http://www.mygerardinc.com/avunion.html
more tins at: http://www.mygerardinc.com/index.html
I just sold one of these on ebay for 73 dollars and I bought it for 8 dollars
seems like prices of tobacco tins on ebay is on the rise going up
Cool tin!
