The vase was bought at a Saturday morning market in Surry Hills in Sydney, Australia. It is hand-potted and is a "touchie-feelie". I think the technical term for the body is "chamotte", but I've also seen the term "stucco" used to describe the surface of the vase. It has a grainy feel to it. It's very tactile and when you touch it or tap it at the rim you get a clear bell tone. It sings.
The background is light blue and the decoration is incised into the surface in triangular blocks and rectangles.
The animals might be two foxes hunting another animal ( a deer, a donkey, a giraffe...?). The animals and the dice-like objects are decorated with very light pink enamel dots. These animals are quite similar to the work of Aldo Londi. Londi worked for a short time for Fratelli Fanciullacci before joining Bitossi in 1935.
Very different, it wants to be turned and felt.
It is 21.5 cm/ 8.5 inches tall.
The signature is the familiar brush-stroked "Italy" and some digits that I read as being 7177.

This is lovely Vetraio. Interesting i had a large pot with an inscribed FF on the base, researching it i came across Fratelli Fanciullaci, not that i think the vase i had was theirs but a lot i found had an FF inscribed. I was wondering, do they not always have that? as your doesn't appear to. Is it the way 'Italy' is signed that gives it away? Or can you find Italy written like that on pots by other makers do you know?
Many thanks NORDICMAN 'n VINTAGEFRAN too !!!!
FF is the sure sign of the firm for sure.
But experience has taught me that the Italy is also a sign though others may not agree. New science. The potting style and the foot is another indicator.
Just having another look at your wonderful Fratelli Fanciullacci pieces Kevin.
Still love them!
I'm having a bit of a FF phase at the moment. They are getting quite pricey!
Many thanks KAREN !!!!!
