Carved Bone Buddha. The carving seems to be glued to the base, the patina seems to be genuine which indicates an older piece. Any information would be appreciated, like age or a translation from the bottom.

He is neither carved nor bone. He is lost wax molded catalytic resin/ composition, made using principles from the book behind him. The color is not patina, but dye added to the resin, and the base is the same material with black dye. He dates from the last quarter of the 20th century or later. The apocryphal mark on the base may or may not have a translation. The original model from which he was produced was carved. Here is a similar pair made in Italy: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/195239-chinese-emperor-empress-figures?in=user

Well said Wexval. I like the book reference.

Well thank you Karen (apologies if that's not right). You and Katherine reply to more of my comments than the posters, and it keeps me from getting lonely. The red one a post over is the same material. Best wishes.
