Seems to me something a "flapper" would use the contents of to puff her body and face with. The fragrant powder laying within would give her a great start to the day. Of course the big fluffy puff is gone. Holds a lot of face or body powder== Nifty necessity for the dressing table of a girl who liked pretty, useful and unique things. No marks at all. Heavy... Of course could be any decade--but I haven't seen such an item at any time in the last many of them. Dating this is "up in the air". Last photo has taken on the wrong color due to lighting---blue of course not tan! Uggh!

Very pretty! Could easily be mid-century.

Would you believe I have been using this--forever! Sturdy, and so utilitarian on my desk!! Yet so attractive--and So Deco' looking at any angle. I would never part with it. It has become a part of my life.
