    (437 items)

Probably the biggest Valentine in the "Valentine Box" that year, and imagine the recipient walking back down the aisle with it with pride, (surrounded by envy. Ha ha) 7 X 5 1/2
The penny in photo 3 shows the comparison in size..and also the changes when the "levers" in the back are moved--Eyes in corners now And Hat tipping as they change position.. Not dated.
I am taking photos a little early in the a.m. with the golden glow of my lamp affecting a change in hue.

I thought so too!!! I'll see if I can find a signature and get a photo of it, if so, and show that. Thanks manikin.
I have a few hundred old valentines--I never thought of looking for artist signatures ( just on tons of sheet music) so in the next days I take the time and a magnifying glass and go thru all of them. Sometimes artists didn't wanna associate themselves with items of less importance such as kid's valentines--book lasted, valentines didn't---it happened with sheet music too. Known artists wouldn't sign, yet in their bios it says--"also did sheet music, postcrds, etc". They sometimes took jobs they felt beneath them if the bills needed paying, or the cupboard was bare.
