This is possibly the largest of Anton Refregier's 27 murals in the Rincon Center in San Francisco, which was a post office until 1978 and is now a food court.

Below is the description the post office gives of this mural, while the last picture is the front of the building:

    16. Building the Railroad: "Theodore D. Judah, chief engineer and founder of the Central Pacific Railroad Company, obtained congressional funding for a rail crossing of the Sierra. Construction from Sacramento began on January 8, 1863 and ended on May 10, 1869 at Promontory Point, Utah with the driving of the last spike. Approximately 10,000 Chinese were hired as laborers. They worked under adverse conditions for low wages. The construction company was highly profitable for all investors."

Part of my trip to Rincon Center. For more on New Deal Post Office murals, check out this website: http://www.parmaconservation.com/newdealpostoffic.html
