This is a great lamp from the 1960's by James Mont, Buddha stands 25" , lamp is 40" tall, the base is walnut. I did not include the shade because it is not original.
The man who sold the lamp to me stated that he grandmother had purchased the lamp in Pittsburgh, PA in the 1960s. She had told him that she had carried the lamp through the streets of Pittsburgh in a sever thunderstorm (I always love to hear these stories whenever I purchase an item).
It has shifted on the walnut base a bit, but that should be an easy fix.
Statement piece alert!!
I love this - wish I had a place here for it.
racer, Thank you! It looks more gold than the photos show.
How interesting! I found a listing for a lamp like this on 1stDibs that says it is "Tara Buddha" (Tara is the female Buddha of compassion). Really sweet item!
rhineisfine,
Yes, I did discover this is a female but I forget the name that was mentioned. Thank you for your comment! Appreciated!
