My dad was sent this picture because it is pretty hard to stump him. BUT there is always something out there. This time he hasn't got a clue. We thought maybe it is a conglomeration of parts cobulled together to make a one of a kind to do a onetime job. I don't know if I can get more pictures? But I'll try.

    Mystery Solved

Unfortunately you know what I know about this. All we got was this picture. From what we could see of the markings on the base it says PAT. PEND. 1910

That is a scissor sharpener. I have one and used to have the box and instructions. You are missing the 2 stones that clamp to the pieces in the middle of the rod. The scissors were clamped in the fixture on the left as in the photo. you then adjusted the scissor clamp assembly to the proper angle and you would draw the stone across the scissor blade. It had course and fine stones. I still have and use mine to keep my upholstery scissors sharp. Mystery solved!

I'd like to see your sharpener It would be nice to see the whole thing in working order. Thanks I'm sure the friends of my dads will flip. We're sure they have no ideas what this is either.

Hi James. I'll see if I can get it setup and get a pic this weekend. I might still have the box and instructions.

Now I've got to get me one. I've got some big scissors that need sharpening. I use them to cut my mate cane when I do pressed can chair seats.
