I love Vintage Gucci Bags - I've been a collector for over 10 years
This is a 1970s Gucci Train Case in Rich Chocolate Brown Suede- What a Treasure - This piece is of interest to the Gucci Historical Archives for display in the Gucci Museum in Florence, Italy - I shipped it off last week along with 10 other pieces from my collection -
Very exciting for me as a Vintage Gucci Collector that the Gucci Museum wants some of my pieces. It was difficult for me to part with part of my Vintage Gucci Collection but I have so many piece that they don't get used or seen as much as these Vintage Treasures should - So I made a conscience decision to work with the Museum so thousands of people can enjoy these pieces. The items are going back to where they were created - Funny how things go full circle and end up back home.
I guess these are all too valuable and rare to use but wow, you must be tempted!
I have a large piece of luggage that goes with this. How did you start the authentication process?
Quality of the leather and suede used stitching hardware and then most importantly the trademark I have a GUCCI book that gives me -Circa info based on trademark made in Italy by GUCCI block letter cursive script 1970s due to the type a zipper used my train case would be early part of 70s
thanks so much! Mine is suppose to be from around 1974ish based on my mom's memory. I will look into some Gucci books like you suggested
I highly recommend the book GUCCI the making of you could buy preowned for around $30 very informative on the history of GUCCI and trademarks with circa info. They may even have the book in the library in your area. If your hallmark matches my hallmark then it's from the -Circa mid 70s. My train case is listed for sale if you want a matching piece to your luggage ????
