Our family have this pottery since forever, the only information I know about this, when my great great parents used to live in Sogut (Turkey - Anatolia, first capital of Ottoman Empire), their greek neighbors gave them away with pickles in it. It doesn't have any mark or signature on it but only a crown symbol as you can see from the picture. I'm questioning about if it can be Byzantine, or something else, thus in that period Ottomans used to write in Persian, it can't be Turkish.... Is there anyone to help me to figure out what that symbol is... or from which period it can be... Thanks for your helps guys :)))
robinson ransbottom
The mark is from Robinson Ransbottom ( olec is correct). The 3 means that it's a 3 gallon jug. There are others by Ransbottom listed in show and tell.
thank u guys... how did it come from us to anatholia 100 years ago no clue though :)
