I recently went up north to Somerset, Ca. where my friend knows someone that has a claim and gave us permission to go panning for gold or crystal digging. There were also old mine caves. But we just stayed in the river looking for gold, rocks or whatever we could find. We found this crystal, but I am not sure what it is. My friend said that it is a garnet. But it seems too dark to me, but what do I know? Really awesome place.
Exactly garnet was my first thought. There are lots of garnet? crystals in that piece of rock. I have got some and they look dark (but not black) too.
That would be cool if they are garnets!
Sounds like a perfect place!!! If it wouldn't be so far, I would want to visit it soon.
