I don't think I've posted this one yet. Of course, maybe I have. Hard to remember after over (I deleted/CW deleted a few) 435 of the posts here are mine.
As far as I recall, no one ever did find out about the druggist stamped at the bottom of the label.
Here is a nice strap-side (see final photo) Beef Iron & Wine bottle from Shelby, Michigan's E. L. Stevenson & Co. drug store (we believe the Western Michigan Shelby, not the other Eastern Michigan Shelby).
As a note of interest, I picked this up a while back and that month brought it for Best Acquired to the bottle club (I'm usually known for liking paper labels).
In the car (car-pooling), a member I run into EVERYWHERE asked what I had brought. I told him that it was a Beef Iron & Wine with a cow on it (it was wrapped up in my box).
He asked where it was from. I said, "Shelby".
He told me he used to have one, which began to make me wonder if it wasn't as rare as I thought.
What he next said then confused me before suddenly making sense. "Is the label on the right side eaten up?"
It turned out I bought the bottle from his antique store booth. Go figure.
