Can anyone tell me the age, who manufactured, and pattern of this butter dish? 6 1/4 inch wide - octagon knob on cover - saw tooth edge on bottom Thanks.
I purchased this item at St Vincent De Paul in Cedar Rapids, IA. Inside was a list (see last photo) of generations of someone's family that this item was passed down. The top and bottom was together. So is the item not collectible if not a match set? I really thought of trying to locate the family to see if they want this item back. Sad- last family member on the list gave it away then keeping it for more generations.
looks like a marriage; the cover is Findlay Flint Glass Co. "Dot" (AKA: Stippled Forget Me Not) c1890
Does top and bottom go together?
Marriage means, no, they don't go together.
Does anyone know what the bottom of this set looks like? Extremely curious.
TallCakes may have a reference link, I checked a few places, didn't see it.
I am still unsure what is the bottom piece is if the cover is Findlay. Trying to find online so maybe could get correct match for each one.
haven't come across the piece used as a bottom here and can't seem to locate a butter matching the top. The top could also be to cover to a bowl or compote. All I can say for now is the lid here is Stippled Forget Me Not.
