I bought this chair because I thought it looked good, plus it was very comfortable to sit in. In fact it is very popular and often has dibs placed on it for sitting on to watch TV. :)
It is made with a quality hard wood, not sure which, but my guess, it is oak. It was refurbished to a very high standard. From what I can see the wood was cut by hand. Other than that I can't really say more. Suggestions please on age? origin? maker? Thanks for watching.

The style is medieval. Here is a 15th century one, and as you can see there still making them. I'm afraid that's all I can tell you. Unless there are any stamps, or labels on yours, it's difficult to trace the origin of your chair. Looking underneath it, it does have signs of being home made, if so they made a very good job of it.

Thank you Gilliam, Yep I'd looked at that style of the old folding chair. What keeps catching me out is the criss cross support of the base that holds the legs, and the style. It could very well be a "home made" piece... :)

Look for Savonarola style chair and you should find many chairs, medievel will get you nowhere fast.

The details of the chair sold at auction for nearly £300. I bought mine for £40. I love mine, and it is not for sale. Just goes to show... Some body rubbish can be someone else's treasure. :) xx

You are welcome for the direction to go. So nice to see you have found the listing, I had found a beautiful one in about 1979 and it took pride of place in my home. Its a very unusual chair.
