Whyatt,
Here are some pics of my LF&C Universal picnic set. (Also for your dancing and dining enjoyment, a Russell / Green River one-armed-man’s knife in a style popular after the Civil War and into the 20th century.) On the picnic set note the matched, rich, rosewood on the handles. Also the set is exactly 8” long rather than the 8 ½” of the questionable one we discussed. You can see the etched trademark “Universal” in a surround and L.F. & C. beneath it. Even with some light overall corrosion it is visible. Lastly note that the bolsters on mine are solid pewter caps. On the other one they look like flattened loops with hollow ends. I’m not saying that they can’t BOTH have been sold by LF&C – but I have doubts. You be the judge.
Glad you said that was a one armed man's knife ! My 1st thought when I saw that was, "Have I lived all these yrs and nobody has told me my mouth is in the wrong place !!". No, Ron. I haven't changed !
really cool , ron. thanks for posting them.
cool!
