As you all know, when you collect something there is always the quest for the new, or different, or special. I often see rare and beautiful pieces during my internet trolling and one artist who has consistently triggered my want synapse has been Kinoto (Hee Noto) Amemiya.

I know very little about him or his work apart from the fact he is recognised in Japan as their greatest glass enameler and that his works are very collectable. I don't know who made his glass blanks and they do vary in size and shape but are generally very traditional like this vase here. He designed and hand painted all of his enamels and clearly his work is meticulous and artistic.

He is recognised as adopting the techniques of Bohemian glass enamelling although I have not found a bio for him that mentions training there or elsewhere in Europe. His style seems to range from these very formally organised patterns to some looser designs yet they all have what I would consider a Japanese rather than European style to them.

I particularly love the birds in this design and I was fortunate to acquire this one without having to work too much overtime. I would be working 24/7 to acquire my favourite design of his.....dream on....
This vase is 28 cm tall (about 12in).

It's a real beauty Karen I love enameled glass. The design reminds me of the "Arabesques" in India's art. :)

That's a pretty fantastic vase Karen!! My holy grail would be a Louis Vuitton trunk. I'm still saving for one of those:)

Happy for you, Karen! It is so beautifully enameled! I wish you to obtain your holy grail, but this one may be the first step before :-))

It's an amazing design, Karen. The birds are almost hidden.....only when I spotted the beak did I stop thinking their heads were flowers.......

LV hey Scott! As you say we all have our most wanted (although TBH I have many!).

Kyratango I sometimes think our Holy Grail should remain out of reach - we all need to continue striving I guess!
Thanks for your commenting about the enamelling - i agree it is beautiful.

It is very Bohemian Peggy as I'm sure you recognise, but he always seems to slip in something different. Now you have found the birds you can't un-see them! You are right about the design - I can only imagine the drawings needed before he starts on these.

Thanks Manikin. Happy to hear from you!

Sue you may not find much on him, his work doesn't seem to have much following outside Japan. Thanks Miss S!

I have to wonder how you stumbled onto this old post Eileen but I'm glad you did and have commented.
I have some more Amemiya Hee Noto works now and like this one they are beautifully and painstakingly painted.
Thanks for looking and loving, I really appreciate it!
