I found this paper weight in a box of other items bought from a antique auction saleroom, I know nothing about glass but someone has told me the design is called Millefiori but that is all I know, it is 3.5 inches across and has a small dent impression to the side of the base (only small) that must have been made in manufacture.
I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to a maker, the was another one of these in the box that is slightly smaller with more stems and much more 'glitter'.

Could you possibly post a photo of the base, please? It tells an awful lot about where it may have come from.
      TIA

      francine60 francine60, Just now
I have added a photograph of the base Deltab as you suggested, there seems to be no signature olebodie. Thank you both though.

I would say, Murano, considering there is aventurine (goldish glitter) in the cushion under the millefiori (thousand flowers, a name for the lovey canes). There is a great Paperweight forum on http://www.glassmessages.com and I'm sure they will be able to give you a better answer than my guess. They are really friendly people and incredibly knowledgeable, so don't be afraid to join and post.

Thank you so much Della, you have been most helpful, I will have a look at the forum you have suggested and also read about aventurine, I have just been watching a video on YouTube on how the glass stem are made, all the stretching, it reminded me a little of a seaside rock factory I visited as a child in Devon. Once again thank you.

I would say Murano Art glass.........kinda reminds me of my Fratelli Toso Paperweight I have, but that is just a guess. Very Beautiful !!

@francine60 - could be, as each maker had their own touch on how the canes were done. I am still learning....and have a LONG way to go. LOL. So Just a Guess here still. I see I have not posted my FT other weights yet, shame on me. Will have to get that done !!

In the meantime, you can check out Alan Thornton ( from the UK ) Murano project on weights here:

PS....do not put on window sill where the SUN shines as YES, they can cause Fire, or wreck the sill. So Caution......

Rose, I'd love to see you paperweights on here, I only found and joined this site today and already I am hooked, that was a good tip about the sun, I've heard glass objects have started fires before, I don't want to use the pun 'it always rains in the UK' ha ha, as actually it's been a good Summer here and autumn looks to be as pretty as these paperweights. I'm going to have a look at your posts now, give me ideas on what sort of things to post, I have a houseful of old things here. thank you again.
